Utah homeowners use around 60% of their water in their landscapes! Classes taught at Central Utah Water teach residents how to improve the functionality and use of their landscapes while cutting down their water use.

Landscape Classes

Hands-on Sprinkler WorkshopApril 20th, 10:00-11:00 am
Instructor: Rick Maloy - Central Utah Water

This introductory workshop is for those who want to gain a better understanding of their sprinkler system. Come and learn about different sprinkler types and sprinkler parts, as well as the tools needed to work with them. Learn how to fix broken sprinklers, and discover how easy it is to convert existing sprinklers to drip irrigation.

Want to have the most coveted lawn in the neighborhood? Sure, it’s a little work, but it’s not as hard as you may think. Come learn what you can do to keep your lawn happy, healthy, and green. Learn proper watering and maintenance techniques to keep your lawn looking good without over-watering.

Build your own fairy garden, and you just might get some little visitors. What better way to gain experience with plants than by creating and caring for your own little garden made just for fairies. This class will teach you how to make a small garden and some fun accessories for it. A demonstration container garden will be created right before your eyes. Once you have all the spaces laid out in your yard and have determined where all the planting beds are going to be, it’s time to plan out what will be going in those beds. This class will help you gain a better understanding of how to design your planting beds by addressing design principles such as form, texture, color, balance, and emphasis.

Come dressed as a pirate and find the missing water! Learn about the important roles water plays in your life and what you can do to use it wisely. Be prepared to go on a treasure hunt, to gather water conservation tips, and to make a pirate flag craft. Geared towards children ages 5-11. Dressing as a pirate is encouraged but not required. In this class, children will get to see a variety of insects, learn about insect structure and function, gain an understanding of beneficial and harmful insects, and go on a bug hunt! The Water Cycle July 31st, 2019 10:00 AM - 10:45 AM

Water can be found in many places, and it can take on various forms. In this class, children get to pretend they are water molecules and will move from the ocean to the clouds to the lake and will end up with a unique bracelet that follows the path they took. Geared toward ages 5-11. A parent or guardian must accompany the children. Adults do not need a ticket to attend. Class is 45-60 mins long.

Water is an important element in keeping ourselves and our hands clean. Children will learn the proper way to wash their hands and will be able to test out their own hand-washing skills using a magic potion and a black light. Geared toward ages 5-11.
