Utah homeowners use around 60% of their water in their landscapes! Classes taught at Central Utah Water teach residents how to improve the functionality and use of their landscapes while cutting down their water use.

Landscape Classes

Fall GardeningSept 7th, 10:00-11:00 am
Instructor: Casey Finlinson – Central Utah Water

Fall is the perfect time to work in the yard! Temperatures are a little more comfortable for both you and your plants. What are the types of things you should be doing out in the yard this time of year? Come to this class for ideas and tips on fall gardening.

Introduction to LocalscapesSeptember 14th, 10:00-11:00 am

Getting ready to install or upgrade your landscape? This introductory design class will show you how to landscape where you live. Learn what you can do to give your yard more curb appeal and reduce maintenance at the same time.

Localscapes UniversitySeptember 21st, 10:00-11:30 am
Instructor: Casey Finlinson/Rick Maloy – Central Utah Water

Now that you’ve had the introductory course, it’s time to delve into more details of creating your own Utah-friendly landscape. Learn how to create a base map for your yard. Gain a better understanding of the central open shape concept, activity area, planting bed design, sprinkler systems, and more!

Planting Bed DesignSeptember 28th, 10:00-11:00 am
Instructor: Casey Finlinson – Central Utah Water

Once you have all the spaces laid out in your yard and have determined where all the planting beds are going to be, it’s time to plan out what will be going in those beds. This class will help you gain a better understanding of how to design your planting beds by addressing design principles such as form, texture, color, balance, and emphasis.

Kids' Classes

Story Time & CraftJuly 17th, 2019 10:00 AM - 10:45 AM
Instructor: Annette VanWagenen-Storytelller

Children will enjoy listening to a master storyteller, followed by a fun craft related to the stories. Geared toward ages 3-8, but all ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Adults do not need a ticket to attend. Class is 45-60 mins long.

The Water Cycle July 31st, 2019 10:00 AM - 10:45 AM
Instructor: Central Utah Water Staff

Water can be found in many places, and it can take on various forms. In this class, children get to pretend they are water molecules and will move from the ocean to the clouds to the lake and will end up with a unique bracelet that follows the path they took. Geared toward ages 5-11. A parent or guardian must accompany the children. Adults do not need a ticket to attend. Class is 45-60 mins long.

Why Wash?August 7th, 2019 10:00 AM - 10:30 AM
Instructor: Utah County Health Department

Water is an important element in keeping ourselves and our hands clean. Children will learn the proper way to wash their hands and will be able to test out their own hand-washing skills using a magic potion and a black light. Geared toward ages 5-11. A parent or guardian must accompany the children. Adults do not need a ticket to attend. Class is 30-45 mins long.
